無銘ながら京金工の作と鑑せられ、赤銅地に金・銀・素銅を巧みに用いた色絵が施されております。

This is a pair of menuki designated as Hozon Tosogu (preservation-worthy sword fittings), accompanied by a certificate issued by the NBTHK (The Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords).

The design depicts “Mikawa Manzai,” a traditional celebratory performing art, symbolizing auspiciousness and festivity.

Although unsigned, it has been attributed to Kyoto metalworkers. The base is shakudo (copper-gold alloy), decorated with intricate iroe techniques using gold, silver, and suaka (pure copper).
The craftsmanship is highly refined, with meticulous attention to facial expressions and detailed garment patterns, reflecting a dignified and elegant aesthetic.

The condition is well preserved, showing appropriate age-related patina without any major damage.
Comes complete with the NBTHK certificate and storage box, making it an piece both for collection and study.
