Rare Shankar’s Children’s Competition Nehru Award Medal Jawaharlal Nehru 18891964 I.G. Mint Bombay With Original Case
This is a rare commemorative medal presented for the
Shankar’s International Children’s Competition, held in honor of
Jawaharlal Nehru (18891964), the first Prime Minister of India.
The medal features a detailed relief portrait of Nehru on the front,
and the inscription “NEHRU AWARD MARI KARUBE” on the reverse, surrounded by
“SHANKAR’S CHILDREN’S COMPETITION”.
The inner box is marked “I.G. MINT BOMBAY”, indicating it was officially produced
by the Indian Government Mint in Bombay.
A beautiful and historically significant piece, showing only minor signs of aging.
