C.L. Blast never made the really big time but he deserved greater commercial success. He was blessed with a gritty, powerhouse voice, an impeccable sense of timing and a terrific feel for the dynamics of a song but he never got that smash hit. Recording since the mid '50s, using variations of his real name Clarence 'Junior' Lewis, he became C.L. Blast in 1967 and here we focus on his work with producer Frederick 'Witness' Knight in the late 1970s and 5 beyond. This material may well be the best 'southern soul' recorded in the late '70s and early '80s. 025009700923 01 DON'T FIGHT THE FEELIN' 02 HARD TO GET THE FEELIN' AGAIN 03 LOVE DON'T FEEL LIKE LOVE NO MORE 04 BEAUTIFUL LOVER 05 I WANNA GET DOWN 06 LET'S DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT TONIGHT 07 IF I HAD LOVED YOU MORE 08 I'VE GOT TO MAKE IT ON MY OWN 09 OUR LOVE WILL LAST 10 IF I COULD FEEL THAT OLD FEELIN' AGAIN 11 SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH ME 12 LAY ANOTHER LOG ON THE FIRE 13 SOMEBODY SHOT MY EAGLE 14 50/50 LOVE 15 BOOMERANG LOVE 16 I NEED TO LOVE YOU 17 DROWN IN MY OWN TEARS 18 NEVER LET ME GO 19 | JUST DON'T KNOW 20 LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU All tracks produced by Frederick Knight except 1&2 produced by Sam Dees Album Compilation and project co-ordination by Garry J Ca Post production and digital mastering by Paul Mooney Mastered at South Union Design and origination by JAD Associates Liner notes a research by John Ridley with thanks to Paul Mooney Special thanks to Frederick Knight and Burton Doss Licensed from Juana Productio soulscape & 2008 Soulscape Records Manufactured and distributed by Garry J Cape Ltd All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting and copying of this recording is prohibited - Manufactured in the EU
