90年代後半から2000年代初頭にかけて、エレクトロニカ／トリップホップが「クラブミュージック」の枠を越え、リスニング体験として深化していった時代。その空気感を、異なる角度から切り取った4作品をまとめたCDセットです。
まず Boards of Canada / The Campfire Headphase。
自然音や郷愁を帯びたメロディ、アナログ感のある揺らぎが特徴的な一枚で、IDMというジャンルを“内省的で風景的な音楽”へと押し広げた作品です。エレクトロニカでありながら、フォークやサイケデリックの感触すら漂う独自の世界観は、今なお評価が高く、アルバム単位で聴き込む価値があります。
