1992年にスタートしたGS音源のCD化<カルトGSコレクション>に遅れること10年でほぼ全てのレコード会社のグループサウンズが出揃います。
ザ・ブルーインパレスは、
『GS第三世代を代表するバンドとして売り出されたが、派手な人気は得られなかった。ジャズ喫茶ではよく知られていたダックス(68年1月結成)というバンドと、もう一つのバンドが名古屋で出会い、合体して生まれた。68年10月3日と4日のモンキーズ日本公演では、フローラルやポニーズとともに前座をつとめた。発足したばかりのRCAビクターから、68年10月25日「太陽の剣」でデビューした。この曲はRCAの大宣伝もあって(ラジオで頻繁にかかった)、54位に入る健闘をみせた。69年3月に発売された2枚目の「メランコリー東京」も妙に耳に残る歌謡曲で92位に入った。その後ヴォーカルが長谷幸也から長瀬実に交代。70年に入っても活動を続けヤケクソのような「苦しみのロック」を出したが、浮上することはなかった。』
ザ・リードは、
『日系一人を含むアメリカ人4人組で、先に日本に来ていた3人に68年6月に来日したマークが話を持ちかけて結成された。発足したばかりのRCAビクターから、68年10月25日シングル「悪魔がくれた青いバラ」、LP[ザ・リード・ゴーズR＆B]同時発売でデビューした。しかし単純に外人のグループだというだけあって、スーナーズのような衝撃を日本に与えることはなかった。もっぱら、日系のアーダクル・タミヤの美少年ぶりが売り物だった。このバンドが日本に残していった唯一の財産は、リード・ギターの・エルダーがGSの連中にチョーキングを教えたことであった。』

②と③は、<ビクター編> <SONY編>のGSオムニバスで、B級(C級？)GSがこれでもかと詰まっています。後者には<アウトキャスト>解散後に名ギタリスト水谷公夫氏が在籍した<アダムス>の全音源8曲が収録されていたり、初期4人編成(=CBSコロンビア時代)の<ヴィレッジ・シンガース>音源4曲も収録されています。この3枚のCDには村井邦彦、すぎやまこういち、鈴木邦彦、いずみたく 等日本のGS or歌謡界を支えた若き日の作曲家たちのレアな作品が数多く収録されています。

Free shipping! This listing includes three omnibus CDs featuring all GS singles by The Blue Impulse and The Lead released by RCA Victor in the 1960s, as well as rare GS releases by Nippon Victor, CBS Columbia, or Sony. These are not rental items. Each CD has been listened to approximately twice.

Ten years after the CD release of GS recordings, the Cult GS Collection, began in 1992, almost every record company's group sounds albums were released.
The Blue Inn Palace was marketed as "the band representing the third generation of GS, but they never achieved significant popularity." They were formed when a band called the Ducks (formed in January 1968), well-known in jazz cafes, met and merged with another band in Nagoya. They opened for the Monkees' Japan tour on October 3rd and 4th, 1968, alongside Floral and the Ponies. They debuted on October 25th, 1968, with "Sun Sword" on the newly formed RCA Victor. This song performed well, reaching #54 thanks to RCA's heavy promotion (frequent radio play). Their second album, "Melancholy Tokyo," released in March 1969, was also a strangely catchy pop song, reaching #92. Later, vocals were replaced by Minoru Nagase, replacing Yukiya Hase. They continued their activities into 1970, releasing desperate "suffering rock" but never made a name for themselves.
The Lead are a four-piece American band, including one member of Japanese descent. They were formed in June 1968 when Mark approached the three members, who had already arrived in Japan. They debuted on the newly formed RCA Victor label on October 25, 1968, with the single "The Blue Rose the Devil Gave Me" and the LP "The Lead Goes R&B." However, being a foreign band, they failed to make the same impact in Japan as the Sooners. Their selling point was the handsomeness of their Japanese-American lead guitarist, Ardakuru Tamiya. The only legacy the band left in Japan was the fact that lead guitarist Elder taught the GS guys how to choking.

② and ③ are GS omnibus albums compiled by Victor and Sony, respectively, and are packed to the brim with B-grade (or maybe C-grade?) GS music. The latter includes all eight tracks by Adams, the band with legendary guitarist Kimio Mizutani after the breakup of Outkast, as well as four tracks by the Village Singers, an early four-piece band (during their CBS-Columbia days). These three CDs feature numerous rare works by young composers who were key pillars of the Japanese GS and pop music scene, including Kunihiko Murai, Koichi Sugiyama, Kunihiko Suzuki, and Taku Izumi.
